?sids, Ris & Xp?
Does anyone know how I can find the SID of an XP machine?? Or how to tell if two SIDs on the network are the same. I am asking because I have been using RIS on a Windows 2000 Server to deploy XP pro images to new workstations. I have not been having any problems but I have growing concerns about matching SIDs and the security risks included.

You may want to take a look at each of the links on the page.

Since you are using RIS it should not be a problem. When you use RIS to deploy an image it first installs the OS from scratch then copies everything else on and modifies the OS settings. Ite SID is generated during the OS install and is not touched afterwords. i.e. -- no duplicate SID problems!
