A rant about people
I'm sitting in my film and literature class watching Of Mice and Men. The film reaches a part when Lenny says 'nigger'. Someone in my class laughs for a moment, a black man in the class yells at him for racist actions, a white guy behind the black guy tells the black guy to shut up because he's talking during the film, the black guy becomes hostile to the white guy behind him thinking he is racist too, more ****..my professor has to talk with us about racism after the film. Why am I sharing this? (be prepared for my rant) I think everyone involved in this situation should ****ing grow up. Was the laughter racist? Maybe, but if so it was not harassment, it was not intended to harm anyone in anyway. But my point is not to defend someone laughing at this, my point is that we live in a society where people have the freedom to speak their minds and if you can't handle someone expressing something in a non aggressive way then sit inside your house and deal with it.

Hidden I agree with you on all counts across our entire society. Sit your ass at home if you can't handle reality. Feed your life with television and don't vote.

Yeah but you also get ethnic people that think that the rest of the world ows them something. And they tend to use that against people that arn't associated with there ethnic background.
For instance, here is Australia you get Aboriginals that walk around acting as though everyone that is not Aboriginal ows them something.
They get everything they want, and if they don't get what they want they'll either steal it or call you racist.
Well that's my point of view on this anyhow.
cheers

I know the same thing with natives here. I realise my ansesctor's leader's stole your land, but that was in war. In wars land is one and lost, everybody else deals with this. Of course I don't mean to say all natives express that attitude, they're are good and bad, smart and dumb, in all races and places. I think we should learn to forget race. If not, it will soon enough be wiped out by cross breeding so it is best to great used to it. I already have 7 or 8 nationalities in me somewhere.
Not all those who wander are lost.

I think the laughter part was a childish way to react to hearing a racist swear word. The same way little kid's react when they hear the f-word or anything else. It was childish, IMO. Then again, it could've been racist as well, as he was laughing at the man using racist termonology towards someone black in the movie. He was probably laughing at the word itself, or at the man that it was directed to. Either way, it was VERY childish..
