    Microsoft conundrum?

    Here is an interesting problem:

A laptop running Windows 98 and Outlook Express 5 as the mail client. When you open Outlook Express it just freezes and forces a re-boot.

    1. It looks as though there is a spam mail with a corrupt header as the first record.
    2. It defaults to preview mode.
    3. It defaults to going to the inbox when opened.
    4. It freezes on opening, so nothing on the menubar is available.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

may have the answer for you - you'll have to access the mail and news via IE (tools>mail and news > read news) and take it from there

    Thanks Zone,

In the end I cheated.............I installed IE6 from a magazine cover CD, I ran the Microsoft security CD...........I created a new user to do this............it then let me "in"

Spybot, AdAware and EZ antivirus then got rid of exactly 100 items.............my second highest score

This machine had not been maintained since 1999!..........it was quite a long job.......in a local hotel, whose bar I happen to frequent I vaguely remember the resident jazz band playing........not sure how I got home

Hey, it's Easter week................time to be nice to people?

I recommend getting that free MS CD!

    Cheers

LOL - well if it gets the job done.... I don't need any more free CD's I've already got too many - currently about 8 DVD's worth of software to try - either demo or free copies of 'stuff'

not been maintained since 1999... hmmm... not one you use regularly I hope!

the jazz band sounds good - who was it? modern or classical jazz?

hey easter weekend and I have next week off too...woot
