I was messing around with my computer and i found this cool boot cd called knoppix STD. it lets you boot off it and it runs linux and you can view your hard drive partitions and even read and write files to them(very handy). i mounted the partition hda1 and browsed through all my stuff from linux and it was cool, but there were about a thousand other partitions in the /dev folder(hda2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on) i had to read a tutorial to find out that hda1 is the one with my stuff on it. My question is, whats are those other partitions for? is it always going to be hda1 that has the actual data on it? say i were to do this on my older comp when it crashes(it crashes every couple of days almost) is hda1 always the partition with the "stuff" on it? im pretty sure it has a fat32 partitions
