All this stuff everyone says about TheSpecialist he already knows. I've talked to him on IRC and he can't understand why he gets AP's. If you don't like it, that's what the AP system is for. If enough people don't like it he will be gone as some people seem to want. I know that he is capable of a lot more than he does here. He is a pretty good coder and I wish he would use that knowledge to help people on AO. It seems to me that lately people have not been using the AP system as it should be used. People telling someone to put a paperclip into a socket get loaded I can only assume so that the thread won't go suicidal and they can ban some stupid little troll. Just ignore the trolls. We don't need 30 replies saying to stick a paperclip in a socket, that's what the trolls want. Report the post and have the mod deal with it. Sorry to screw up this thread. I guess I should hide this since it doesn't have anything to do with the topic if the tut. Peace everyone, and let's try and be more responsible with our posts and redirect the AP system to its original purpose.

Heretic:
I know that he is capable of a lot more than he does here
Then he should provide it or go away..... He uses these forums as his own little scratching post..... If he is so uptight, frustrated and bored by his own little life then he should do something constructive with it's remnants rather than run around pretending to be someone he clearly isn't...... I have never been impressed by little people with big heads, mouths or any other anatomical appendage.... I'm impressed by knowledge and skill..... He demonstrates very little of either..... scratching posts are for pussies, (the cat variety of course..... )..... If he wants to scratch have him come scratch over here..... But he has proven before that he doesn't know enough to play with the "bigger" children, so he won't...... He'll continue to be an irritant in the side of those he thinks he can intimidate..... and still look bloody stupid and inept while he does it.......
Don\'t SYN us.... We\'ll SYN you.....

sorry Heretic but honestly...he's turning into another dreaded NFG....CURSED BE HER NAME!
I'm yet to see a sign of intelligence from him, but i'm optimistic . If you say he's a good coder, I believe you...but his social skills suck ass.

Hey Hey,
I don't want to take sides here, because I like a good flame myself..... as we all know
However I can see where TS is coming from and why he is getting irritated with people.. I look at Spyder and he's been here for a while... and I can't understand how he pulled this outta his ass. I mean the term Jump Points.. it's like we're trying to entice script kiddies with fancy movie lingo. It's a proxy... that's all it is... this entire tut is useless.. and it really shouldn't be in a tutorial forum in my opinion. It's utter crap.
On the other side, at least he tried.... In the past I've seen good posts out of TS.. I've seen some knowledge and possibly even a glimpse of humanity in his otherwise cold steel eyes... It's a shame to not see those anymore but it is his choice. He has the curtesy to hide his posts so as not to offend anyone, and it's our choice if we view most of them. Can it be a little much (and I used to do this too... so I've seen both sides)... but yes it can be a little much and it isn't always needed, but sometimes it knocks some sense into the person and they realize they need to change. It's APs without assigning the APs.. the person gets the message but doesn't feel the wrath of a few red dots. Sure it could be sent in PM, however we all know that getting a public belittling infront of all your co-workers is much worse than being bitched-out by the boss in private... AO works the same way... You realize that everyone else is seeing you being questioned and you wonder if what you did is right... where as in private no one sees it and if you delete it who cares.. no one else knows it happened.
I've been posting here for a little over a year and I really enjoy AO.. I get to learn stuff and occasionally share what little knowledge I have. I'm an IT student... my goal is to learn because I'm know where near the end of my journey... The biggest thing I've learned is that sometimes a little grace is required.... sometimes you need to tone things down. I'm probably the cockiest person you'll ever meet.. I tell it like it is and don't care who's toes I step on....However I also realize what is acceptable and what isn't.. There are way too many people coming to AO (they seem to outnumber us these days) that don't have common sense, they can't accept that a little grace and tact can go a long way. They're lowering the integrity and the intelligence level of this site. It's a sad thing, and when it comes to the newbies asking how to hack hotmail, or some other ****... I'm glad to see them flamed and told off.. I hope it'll help them learn... I think this is just a case of where we've seen a good chunk of flames from TS and nothing of real use. While his attacks used to be slightly beneficial to the site.. they are losing their quality and power because he's of no use to the site anymore... I'd like to see this change.. but then again there's many things around AO that we'd all like to see change...
I think the best thing to do is accept it, don't read hidden posts and if you do.. don't take up arms against the author.. it was your choice to view it... If you have problems.. neg the person.. report the person.. We've dealt with problems before and we can deal with them still.... we just need to focus on the goal and we'll all reach our destination eventually. Things like these are just rough spots in the road for some and rocket fuel for others... In the end it'll all be evened out and everyone will get what they want (or at least we can hope so)....
Well that rambling has taken me to the end of my shift.. Time to do up my report and head out the door.
Peace,
HT

Nice information, but I think that is pretty basic Spyder. I was looking forward to a more in depth look, but that was very nice. Some ways hackers get these jump points is by running a rootkit which is an automated tool that tries to exploit certain vulnerabilities that allow the hacker access to the machine on a block or list of IP's. Rootkits are more commonly used to make the computers zombies in DDoS attacks.

TheSpecialist sucks donkey balls!!!
/me waits for people to give me greenies because I flamed someone.
(just kidding)
Well to get onto the topic of this thread...
Yes, I agree that this tut was fairly simplistic. But it has some potential:
For instance, he could go into more detail of how an attack like this could be carried out and how to protect against it.
One more thing: the term "jump point" appears to be pulled out of thin air. I can't find anything about it. Although just 'cause you've never heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Oh well. Later

Hey Hey,
I could post this as an edit however I want everyone to see this.. There seems to be some confusion regarding my last post... by TS I was refering to TheSpecialist... not Tiger Shark. I just wanted to clear that up for anyone who was wondering.
Peace,
HT

Okay, I'm happy this was moved to Network Security Discussion's and I'm also happy about what most people said. YES.. it was crap. And YES, I can do better (see my last tutorial ). Next time, I'll go much more in depth and will cover more. I got the term Jump Point's when I was reading JP's Personal Page about how he got into Security. Anyways, I'm sorry for posting a garbage-ass thing like that. Everyone happy now?
