Thread: Adding Printers for All Users

Question Adding Printers for All Users

    I have a tricky situation.

As always, my users are wanting me to do magic tricks so they have to do as little work as possible. I have a terminal server running that they need to print from, so I added the drivers for their printers so that they can be added. However, one of the bosses still isn't happy because the printers aren't automatically added. I can add printers as administrator, but they are only added to the administrator's folder, so each user has to add his/her printers themselves. Is there a way around this, so that once I add a printer, it will appear for everybody soon as they open the printers folder?

    Thanks!

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of, I couldn't find anything either.

    Perhaps this can help you?

add a default printer to the default profile, this will introduce a default printer to all new users that log in on a workstation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/default...NoWebContent=1

This describes how to add a default printer to every new user that logs in (for NT and 2k) using the same concept as above mentioned. A default profile with default printer.

Read the whole doc, cause adding default printers to existing users is explained at the end of the doc.

That's really close to what I want to do, but I don't want to just add one default printer; I need all of the available printers to appear, and not as defaults. So, I don't think my question has a solution....
