I have Trojan Horse and need to know what to delete from Hijackthis.

This is the one that jumps out at me. In my system, it's listed as explorer.exe, no capitals. The SOPHOS website has it listed as an executable, which would fit the bill...other than that, I can't help.

Go into your explorer, and see if there are 2 explorer.exe's listed...if it is, then we'll see what we can do to get rid of it.

HijackThis is an excellent tool, but not very proactive.

My general advice is to obtain copies of AdAware 6 and Spybot Search & Destroy. Update them and run them in safe mode, and let them delete what they suggest.

I would then run the immunization facility in SpyBot S&D

Next get the 30-day trial of Moosoft's "The Cleaner" and run it (you should do this in a normal windows session)

Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster are also worth having.

I would then run an interactive scan with Trend Micro's "Housecall"

Then run HijackThis again, and post what you find.

I believe that you should have most of these items in your toolbox anyway, and use them regularly. Let them do the initial work for you and use HT as a weapon of last resort and for clarification.

EDIT:...........oops, I almost forgot, in XP you should turn off "System Restore" then reactivate it when you are done and set a manual restore point, or you will restore the bad guys if you need to restore.

well in windows xp sometimes extentions are capitalized...not sure why but it does cause a problem sometimes if you're linking to it (ex: picture.JPG, pic.GIF)

That is what concerns me.

Try disabling your system restore, so it dumps all your restore files.

(right click on my computer, go to manage, go to the services, set system restore to disabled. you can also stop the service manually)
Reboot your system in safe mode and rescan your machine. (update your defs.)

If it doens't detect anything... you should be ok.

Also, since you know its a trojan. Scan with a trojan scanner... the cleaner is what I use.
30 day trial. Just uninstall it after you're done...

After you're sure you're clean, then enable system restore again.

Looks like you also have some spyware in there.
So, when you are in safe mode, run adaware and spybot. Just make sure they are updated.

Right on, phish.. since it's in the _restore section she does have to disable system restore.

Close all open programs.
Then right-click My Computer on the Windows desktop
Click on Properties
Click on the System Restore tab
Check Turn off System Restore on all drives
Restart the system

re-run the scan or manually delete the file as it probably won't be actively running.
(it wasn't running so that's why hijackthis doesn't really show it)

but.. I should point out that there are a few other things in the log..

really, one should run adaware and spybot first (both updated) then run hijackthis.

there's a few other things in there that you don't need running as well but, I'd clean all that up, reboot and post a new log.. good luck

edit: forgot to mention that after you've rebooted and have cleaned up the things in the log, and all is well.. you can turn system restore back on and manually delete the files and (if they have their own folders) the folders that contain the files.. as in Toolbar\toolbar.dll .. but of course NOT the folder in the case of something like system32.

edit 2 : Amanda.. you should not be running hijackthis from a temp folder as when it you delete something via hijackthis, it makes backups.. and you don't want those back ups to be lost.. make a folder like C:\programs files\hjt and put your hijackthis.exe file in there and run it from there..

also.. make sure you have no other windows running besides hijackthis (especially IE) when you go and tell hijackthis to fix the entries

Do what other people said with AdAware and Spybot. Purchase or download free (AVG, avast!) AV software. Employing a firewall would also be very good in detection and prevention.
