My computer talked to me...
And I wasn't even drunk...
But seriously, I was browsing around yesterday trying to hunt down some code snippets... while I was on some particular site(I'll have to see if it is still in my history) I got an audio advert for a weight loss drug... since I was the only one home, I nearly peed my pants..I thought there was a woman in the house..
I'm using the latest incarnation of Mozilla with everything locked down..how did that get through? I can only asume it was javascript?? Anybody else had any of these? Is this the future of online advertising?
Ah..I think this is the link.. it's loaded with spycrap, so beware:
http://www.alegsa.com.ar/Visitas/Jpopupmenu.php
And on an unrelated note, one of my Yahoo mail accounts has a 608 kb email, no subject, nobody in the "from" field... my address is all in capital letters (I thought addresses were case sensitive)..any bets on what that may be? I don't have a box to open it with right now....
EDIT: On further review, this is probably not the correct forum...Mods?

Actually, e-mail addresses are not case sensitive.

Me neither. Got hit with a lot of cookies to block, then got the message that a JS app failed to load (guess that was it). That's using Mozilla Firefox.

We also have jackasses and dumbasses but we have managed to corner them in a place called the "Houses of Parliament".............last reports from the front said that they were putting up a fierce resistance?

LOL!
EDIT: Almost forgot.. the voice is a java app that runs, I've seen it on a few sites now. It can be blocked by blocking java execution. I use opera and it catches it.

Thank goodness somebody else has heard them..I was thinking I may have to go looking through closets and under beds..I went back to that site a couple times, and I haven't heard it again... maybe just a random thing?
And a few more random thoughts..I have WinPatrol running, and it's supposed to notify me if any new cookies are installed.. apparently it doesn't work with Mozilla..? but in all honesty, I don't recall if there is an option to select Mozilla as the browser of choice (I don't have it on this box) I had a bunch of cookies, but that's my own fault, I forgot to double check my permissions.
nihil, I'll send that attachment when I get a chance....

So groove,
What did I tell you before about computing under the influence?
Now, did you actually talk back to her?
*No, I have actually seen the talking ads. I seen a place where you can get a banner built custom for you with the image and voice of your choice.

I've seen those two, the little virtual people that they are. I don't know if that was the case with the website in question though, since there was no accompanying face.
