    Question how does moblie internet work?

    hi all,

    as we all know every computer over the internet has a unique ip address.... i was wondering ht.. does a moblie connected to internet through GPRS or WAP too has an ip associated with it...??

    if it is so .. can we use the normal tools as ping and finger to check them out...??

    its just a weired thought.. ( pls dont falme me if its in apt. )

    please correct my knowledge...

    I do believe you could ping an IP, since it's a connection just the same (wireless or not). Anyone care to confirm me on that one? However, wireless networks tend to identify machines by MAC addresses.

    Hey,

    Mobile internet works because it uses the mobile IP.
    If you "Dial-in" at your provider with GPRS for instance you will get some Ip-address from their DHCP-server so to answer that question yes a mobile user connecting to internet will normally get an IP-address.

    To find out more about the mobile IP check this link .

    So if this mobile user is on the internet it might be possible to ping him ...but much more than that ??

    Maybe someone else can elaborate on this a bit more.
