moxnix hrm, those same four are listed as ignore in my new install of s&d also. I downloaded it from the Download.com mirror if that matters to anyone.

I also noticed that my IE is completly shot now. I can't load a single page, so I checked out my security settings. It had been yanked up to High and was blocking everything. I reset that, but something is still going on with cookies (even though I enabled first party/session cookies, and prompt on third party). I didn't load the IE helper either... but I did note that they have a specific listing for Opera plugins listed directly beneath the IE helper part which was interesting.

hrm, I'll tweak with the s&d settings some more and I'll play around in IE to find out what happened there.

    Hi,

I found the same four on two machines that I have just updated. I unchecked them and re-ran SpyBot, but it didn't fid anything.

Is it possible that someone was testing the check/uncheck function and missed those four?

I have seen people leave debugging software in production apps before

The old version of spybot had this problem. the new one doesn't, but there are 3 look-alike progs of spybot running around that may also change your hosts files.

    ?????
    Please elaborate....
I d/l'd version 1.3 from download.com. Where might you get one of the lookalikes? Are there any clues or telltale signs that distinguish a lookalike from the original? Where did you get this information?

I did a bit of sniffing around at "net-intergration"(Spybot S&D forum), and people are aware of the settings in the Ignore List. They basically recommend to uncheck the items for the time being. I am not entirely sastisfied as there seems to be no good explanation as to why some items are checked, but I'm confident that I have a valid version of Spybot S&Dv1.3, so I'm not going to worry too much for the time being.
