Why is preparing network connection so slow?

Goodday.

OS:2000 advance server.

When i turn on my PC, before it load into WIN 2000. It will state "Preparing network connection"

It will take 15min before it load into windows. WHy is it so LONG!
i dont face this problem when i am using my PC in the office?

Please help me .
I want to use my PC hopefully less than 5 min after i turn it on .

try reinstalling the driver for the networkcard, perhaps this will help.......

do you have some software on autostart which uses the network connection? like msn or something like that???
