    Question Icons changed

After uninstalling Iomega's Active Disk, suddenly my desktop icons were corrupted, although I'm really not sure that it's related to Active Disk.

All icons except the default (system) desktop icons, seem to have an overlay of a MS Word document icon, but just a little smaller so one can see the borders of the orriginal icons.

After re-creating a shortcut, it had the same problem.

I googled on it and found something about ShellIconsCache. Supposedly, after deleting that file the %systemroot% and rebooting, it should be OK. No way. It only applies to the default (system) icons.

So, now I wonder if anyone has had this problem before, or has any suggestions for me.

    Many thanks,

    Hi sparkant,

What operating system are you using?

    Do the links still work?

I remember that sort of thing happening with Win NT4 using roaming profiles, when you logged onto another machine...........invalid links showed up as a word-type icon, and didn't work.

It might be something to do with your user profile?

Can you post a screen capture?

    Cheers

    Links are still functional.
When deleting a link, and recreating it, the problem remains.
The PC in question is in a workgroup, logged on user is administrator.
The screenshot I cannot give you for the moment, because it's a pc on a remote location on which i cannot log on remotely.

Maybe it's the user profiel, I'll try to find out ASAP.

Already many thanks for the help!

    Grtz,
