IRC: What is it and how do I get it?
I heard a little about something called IRC: I do not know what it is or what it can do and I would appreciate it if somebody could explain it to me. I would also appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to get this IRC.

stickmansquark,
The very first site after entering "What is IRC", on www.google.com
"Internet Relay Chat, a chat system that enables people connected anywhere on the Internet to join in live discussions. To join an IRC discussion, you need an IRC client and Internet access."
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...e&q=define:IRC
What is IRC:
http://www.mirc.com/irc.html
etc,
You'll need a program(client) to use IRC. Some Window's based ones:
Ice Chat:
http://www.icechat.net/site/modules....download&cid=1
mIRC:
http://www.mirc.com/
Some Windows versions come with Microsoft Chat which is also a client.
cheers
Connection refused, try again later.

If you would go to the Tutorial section of AO, you would find this thread: http://www.antionline.com/showthread...hreadid=257509 which is Negative's Tutorials Forum - New INDEX. Then by actually going to that new index @ http://www.neg.be/index/ You would find a section for IRC. http://www.neg.be/index/?c=15 This would list for you 9 different tutorial written for 'AO' on the subject of IRC.
That should give you (with the links provided above) plenty of information to answer almost any questions you might have about IRC.
\"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!\"

Questions like this have been asked before:
http://www.antionline.com/showthread...&highlight=IRC
http://www.antionline.com/showthread...&highlight=IRC
http://www.antionline.com/showthread...&highlight=IRC
http://www.antionline.com/showthread...&highlight=IRC
http://www.antionline.com/showthread...&highlight=IRC
Anyways, you get the point.
I'm to busy now to write a tutorial on IRC, but if you did a search of the Tutorial Forums like moxnix suggested, you'll find lots of information.
As for IRC Client, if you're on Windows I suggest X-Chat, and if you're on Linux I suggested either X-Chat or Irssi.
Peace

"IRC is a multiplayer notepad."
IRC is basic chat room, you get a client and connect to servers and on those servers you join channels (aka chatrooms). Like MB said, X-Chat is a good client for Win, and so is mIRC...
Once you get up and running, I'd like to suggest a irc.2600.net as a good server, but whatever you do, stay away from irc.unerror.com.... they'll rot your brains to mush in days. =P

/me watches MicroBurn set ban on *!jag*@* on UnError!
But I'm not kidding... UnError is crazier than AO, the mood swings, the useless arguements, and the constant horniness will make you go crazy. =P
