    to be or not to be

    Scans uncover secrets of the womb

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3846525.stm

    A new type of ultrasound scan has produced the vivid pictures of a 12 week-old foetus "walking" in the womb.

    The new images also show foetuses apparently yawning and rubbing its eyes.

    Professor Campbell has perfected a technique which not only produces detailed 3D images, but records foetal movement in real time.

    He says his work has been able to show for the first time that the unborn baby engages in complex behaviour from an early stage of its development.

    The images have shown:

    From 12 weeks, unborn babies can stretch, kick and leap around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement

    From 18 weeks, they can open their eyes although most doctors thought eyelids were fused until 26 weeks

    From 26 weeks, they appear to exhibit a whole range of typical baby behaviour and moods, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccoughing, and sucking.
    Until recently it was thought that smiling did not start until six weeks after birth.

    More than 40 million legal abortions have been performed and documented in the 30 years since the U.S. Supreme Court declared abortion legal.

    Do Democrats realize that millions of Missing Voters--due to the abortion policies they advocate--gave George W. Bush the margin of victory in 2000?

    did you catch that number....forty friggen million.

    well if that aint karma i dont know what is.

    if its ever 'decided' that human life begins in the womb we in this period in time will be written as the worst savages to ever walk this earth

    I believe that they argue about making abortion legal for the first trimester. My GF feels the same way. Personally I think it should be illegal PERIOD. Don't abort....if you cannot take care of the baby, put him/her up for adoption.

    "put him/her up for adoption."

    Let me tell you about adoption centers...

    I knew I woman who adopted atleast 4 to 8 kids. Eventually she couldn't keep them all. Why did she take them? Because there was this guy who was adopting one kid after another then ****ing them and boosting his kiddie porn collection in the process. The local police didn't have much to take this guy I think... yet years later they managed to have the brains & the legal up-holding to spray maybe 10 to 15 bullets into a physically lacking & not to mention retarded man who had a knife and also forgot to put on a mask while robing a store. He didn't kill anyone or anything like that. This guy lived with his mom and had the mind of a five year old.

    This all happend a few towns outside of where I was staying at in S.C. & in these towns when I moved I thought to myself "wow what I **** hole". But then I visited family there and you know what? It actually became a even larger slum than it ever was before. These peaple will sell kids to any dumb-ass from the area with a unusually large history of violent crimes along with some shady stories about how their other kids dissappeared.

    We had one of those scans done with out newest baby. They're incredible. At that time it was very rare for a Dr.'s office to have this technology, but there was a local company that did them. Some of the Docs in town are doing these as a routine part pf pre-natal care now.

    It was so cool to be able to hang a picture of the baby on our living room wall months before he was even born. I thought that was very cool both as a father and a technophile.

    Yes, there's a darker side to anything...but I'd rather take the chances and give them a take on life. 40 Million in 30 years...GOD ****ING DAMN! Who knows...maybe one of them would have found the cure to aids...or cancer, or whatever...or come up with something that would have made our life easer. Thats my take on it...life isn't cheap.

    More than 40 million legal abortions have been performed and documented in the 30 years since the U.S. Supreme Court declared abortion legal.
    The US has an average birth rate of 14.13 births / 1,000 population, or 4,140,090 births a year (based on a population of 293M).

    40M abortions in 30 years = 1.3M abortions a year...

    That means there's a 1 to 5 ratio of abortions vs. births... that IS a lot...

    That's why I personaly think the pope is a war criminal in the war on AIDS and also responcible for the "unwanted babies"..

    [slightly off topic]
    If any person wants to defend the catholic church's stance on Birth controll.. Be my guest..
    If any organisation is responcible for genocide it's the catholic church..
    The "mission" killed more people then Hitler did !!
    (People in strange countries didn't have protection against the diseases the missionaries had with them)

    Dude, the pope may be a anti-war at all cost wimp, but a war criminal he is not.

    I'm not a Catholic, but the Catholic Church is completely within it's rights to have a religious belief condeming birth control. The bible says something along the lines of "go forth and multiply," so the Catholics are simply doing what their God told them to do. Now you may have a gripe about Catholics being only one step removed from Pagans, based upon a probable false assumption that most Catholic are sex addicts. But being responsible for genocide is going just a tad bit over the top, dont you think?

    Ok. I'll bite. How many people did the Missionaries kill versus Hitler? Where is your proof the the killing were based upon foreknowledge, and with a malicious intent to spread deadly diseases?

    Well malicious can definately be implied, especially when the Excerpt from the genocide convention state the following:

    Article II

    In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group, as such:

    a. Killing members of the group;
    b. Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
    c. Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring its physical destruction in whole or in part;
    d. Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
    e. Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
    The magic words here are "INTENT TO DESTROY." Your links still have not proven that the "modern day missionary" has an "intent to destroy" or to violate the five conditions of Article II of the Geonocide Convention. You may be able to find some isolated instances where "intent to destroy" did occur in our modern times, however I highly doubt that you will find a majority or even a significant percentage of instances where modern day missionaries set out with the intent to decimate a foreign population. Missionaries may have cause millions of deaths, however I still have not seen proof that missionaries killed more people than Hitler, per your claim.
