Microsoft Robots to Watch Kids
Slashdot:
"Microsoft announced today that is testing a new toy / robot to watch over kids. My question is, if the toy BSOD does it take the kid with it? Now we are letting inanimate objects raise our kids! When will it end?"
I'm sorry, Mr. Robinson, Will died because I bluescreened and had to restart.

You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door.
There is a small mailbox here.

You guys are missing the obvious. The kids will hack the robot to watch the parents and sniff on the neighbours to pick up the neighbourhood secrets. And then they will broadcast them a la the Simpson's kids (through the cop's coffee cup).
Don't laugh. They probably would...

Ya, right. The kids will figure out how to use this thing faster than the 'rents and will learn how to avoid it or make it look like it's up-to-date.

the sad part is most kids would figure out how to exploit this thing before the parents could figure it out.

They already have (for the most part). It's called "Microsoft ActiMates Barney" -> http://www.geekchic.com/~jpd/barney/
Chances are they got the idea from the paper those people wrote up -> http://sandbox.xerox.com/dourish/sweetpea.pdf
But you don't want to know how I remembered that MS was connected with Barney...
