Greetings Ice. . . and I hope you have had a wonderful birthday.

"We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations." - Anais Nin
"Never give in-never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy!" - Winston Churchill

I think I greened everyone I could. Thank you all for such bright tidings on this day. I am indeed honored that folks I don't even know in person think enough of me to remember and wish me well.

How my day *really* got spent - (don't ya love it when things don't jell out the way you'd planned?)

I stayed up extra late last night watching old movies and mudding - my first time in ages doing either.

I was awakened promptly at 6:30 this morning by Mr. Underfoot, our siamese tomcat who wanted out...NOW. Not to use the big litterbox behind my backyard, he'd already attended to that by the tub in our bathroom, which I found about 2 minutes after letting him outside so he wouldn't wake Mrs. |ce who'd taken the day off ill with a migraine.

The yard didn't get mowed, but much beer was consumed during my 'run of the house' time while Mrs. |ce was virtually bedridden. Lots of sitesurfing, ms spades, and mudding occurred. You know you've had too many when you can't quite see to mud anymore...so I slowed down a bit...on the mudding, mind you.

Mrs. |ce decided about 4:00 this afternoon to grace me with her (gorgeous even when ill and bedheaded) presence. She worked through her pain to cook me a wonderful fried chicken dinner as promised, complete with southern style mashed potatos, brussels sprouts, and made from scratch macaroni and cheese (yes, even homemade pasta she'd prepped last night) - No comments from the nut gallery, that's my favorite dish, she knows it, and it's my effin birthday not yours :P

Dinner turned out positively pristine, I tried to help her as much as I could, and she accepted a bit less than I actually did, then I got fussed at and evicted from the kitchen. The dishes await my will and pleasure at my earliest convenience (after I post this most likely so she won't try to do them herself..the poor kid's in pain to the point I gave her one of my 10/500 percodans to at least ease her up a tiny bit. She'll be going to her Migraine doc tomorrow for infusion if the pain doesn't ease).

This evening I shall enjoy my wife's company in a quiet cuddle session in front of yet another old movie, after she watches Revelations on tv. I could override her choice there, citing birthday priviledge, and she'd yield, but it's truly not what's on the idiot box that keeps me in there, it's her.

I called Mom about an hour ago. I feel truly blessed that I still have both of my parents living; so many people my age don't. She told me that she had a gift for me waiting at her house, but that tonight was a bad night to pick it up - she and dad were on their way to my grandparent's to sit with them. I responded that I should be giving her a gift - 38 years ago today at 2pm she'd just finished the last 'worst pain of her life'. She laughed and called me 'her baby' - one of the few times she gets away with it since folks tend not to believe I'm her baby anymore. (she's 4' nothing, dark haired, indian skin, and tiny, I'm 5'9, quite large, redheaded and fair skinned. The only thing of hers I inherited was her height; the rest of the males in my family are 6'3 or taller).

Anyway, I'll go watch revelation with Mrs |ce (always Mrs |ce, never |ce queen, if I value my life), since it's already on and enjoy the rest of the night...

Presents? Oh! You wanna know what the haul was!!!!
From the wife, a new stick of ram to replace the one that was failing, and the new lawnmower we bought last week. From the 'rents, good old cashola and a very touching card. From her mom and grandma, a card and good old cashola. Dunno what I'm buying with it yet - maybe some bluejeans since mine are getting kinda tight-ish lately...(is it any wonder the way I've been eating?) From you nice folks at AntiOnline, some cool tidbits of advice and well wishes, a few greenies, and 4 links to sites which will teach me how to grow my own tobacco that I wanted. You already heard the present our tomcat left me, the other 2 critters gave lots of love and attention, especially when I was eating something. Thanks to all!!!

Anyways, all in all it was a wonderful birthday, good as any I've had, and I shan't complain one iota. The cake almost caught fire from the amount of candles - next year I told Mrs |ce to just put on one and the others can be pretend...she said that'd come when I hit 40. I told her I still hadn't traded her in on two 20's yet but that if she kept that up it might be soon :P
