I leave for a few hours of Quake and Doom and erasing the partitions on a box to reinstall everything, come back finally, and there are replies here AND ****ING 300 EMAILS MUTT JUST GRABBED.

    .... Damn...

MLF, you seem to have a Wine thing each night. You hit that bottle almost as hard as this porn I saw once where a girl took a 40 oz and shoved it in her.... Hahahahahahahah. I couldn't help it. Like anyone here expected less from me than a huge smart ass comment.

I felt bad for that girl. After a 40 oz is shoved up there the only guy on Earth that's going to be able to give her any pleasure is.... me. Lol.

NP: Left Over Crack - Rock the 40 oz.... Maybethat's why I thought of it.

I would say, one of the major problems is the whining and bitching about things. Pointing fingers etc.. is bad for everyone. Stop whining and complaining and get back to security. Its like some freaking cheap spanish tv series, where they all bitch about who does what and where and why. Who cares? Ignore the threads that you dont like instead of trying to critisize them. Its also threads like THIS one HERE that are a waste of bandwidth.

    Move on.

Ok.. Iam the one that started that thread..

My idea was to improve the general participation of the site.. It was not intended to be a finger pointing exercise.. rather a self evaluation.. a method of looking for ways of improving the site.... and yes a couple of personality confilcts interviened.... It happens

As for the content of the general thread itself It did bring some points to the surface that I felt that I could follow through with.. Also I learnt a bit more about a couple of other members.. certainly how they had grown..

As for what is in the thread.. IF NONE OF THE PARTICIPENTS OBJECT.. I will ask one of the mods to move that thread into the GCC.. objecters posts removed..or content edited..

    Here is my opening post:

Sometimes I wonder about all of us..

We are a security site, we will sit and argue about how great X OS is compared to Y OS .. or we will argue why z Browser is more secure than w Browser..

We will spew our knowledge over these forums, I know better than you type BS, each on our little islands defending the grains of sand from the surf, to what end? forget about the beach?

How many when reading these threads actualy read the reference links given? or atleast give them a quick glance through? judging by the replies to some threads I feel many dont even read the first post.. especially if it extends past 1 line.

Forgetting forum crappers.. those who insist on telling the other members how pointless and useless the forum is in the first place.

HAve we turned into a PC help desk? as my sig comments.. "when a computer farts we all the spyware doctor".. ok help the people with problems.. are we moving away from what were here for.

I'm here because of "Hackers know the weakness in your system, Do You?"
IF you dont look at where you are..how do you know your on the correct road.

the only way to fix the problem is not complain about it but start decent threads and people will follow and get involved in the good threads and the level of conversation will be raised

    The conclusion I came to..

If you want good technical discussions .. Start one..
If you want help and advice.. Show that you’re trying to get answers.. Give us information on what the problem is.. (Not a vague description that a 5yr old could do better)
If a real cry for help is given.. Offer assistance…
Remember some times we need to vent.. that is why GCC, Addicts and Tech Humor.. And that venting needs to stay just where it is.. not spread all over the forums.
And I need to remember much of this more than anyone else.. so there

When the debate is over, slander becomes the tool of the loser.
    Socrates (469 BC - 399 BC)

Debating the solution to a problem is a good way to find the best fix.
Some people are overly sensitive when others disagreee with their point of view online. It's easyfor that sensitivity to blow up and turn into a flame. It's just the comfort of distance. To suddenly start shouting at someone in your office you disagree with risks a smack in the mouth, no such risk in a forum.

I've not been looking round here for that long but my impreesions are that the flames that do come out are generally more intelligent and have a bit more wit than usual.

Newbies seem to be helped out in most cases if a reasonable question is posted and even stupid question seem to be treated with indifference at worst ("how to I hack hotmail?" being an exception). It is a laudable act to take the time to help someone with considerable less skill and knowledge. Newbies can't give out APs but I'm sure many of them would like to for the help they've received.

To turn the forum into a place for the Elite only is taking a very narrow view. Dealing with the computer illiterate is something many have to do regularly and it is a skill in itself.

Simply slagging things off is too easy, if people want to moan they should present some ideas of how to fix the problem as well. Then that can be debated in the usual fashion ;-)

Discussing such matters openly is really good ….. And helps to clarify some unclear points ….
AO is the nicest forum I have ever known …. This is how I perceive AO .. And many do the same, I believe…. We have many security gurus as well as in the other fields …. All of them enjoy posting at AO ….

Attacking things in this way would only lead to nothing … instead we have to adapt CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM …. Instead of attacking all the time … you could give us some suggestions to go by …. It is not enough to say "S***, this article is bad and needs a lot of refining" …. Say what makes it bad and HOW to refine it most properly ….. I won't make it any longer …. But if you don't like a certain thread, don't bother replying … this would be really good ….

    My $0.02 …..

    Cheers

hatebreed2000 ... you sound like a pubescent girl

what do you expect from an open, public forum. you are simply gonna have to learn to share it w/ us all, *******s or not. how dare you even say those words about ppl that you don't even know and who have collectively 100x more IT experience then you. what are you... some kind of AO patron saint.
