Defense Tech: U.S. Ships Attacked
"A rocket was fired early today at two American naval ships docked in southern Jordan, killing a Jordanian soldier and marking the first attack on American military ships in the region in five years," the Times reports.
A rocket was fired at the same time from apparently the same area at an airport in a neighboring Israeli port, hitting a stretch of road and wounding a taxi driver, news agencies reported, citing Israeli officials and witnesses. A third projectile was fired at a Jordanian hospital around the southern port of Aqaba but did no damage.

Again...
Two rockets missed the USS Ashland, an American naval ship docked in the port. A Jordanian soldier died when one of the two missiles hit the dockside.
The third missile landed near Eilat airport in neighbouring Israel, causing no injuries.
An internet statement, purportedly from a group which says it has links to al-Qaeda, said it was to blame.

A rather strange "target"......................and the others missed? Sounds as if the people who fired them didn't really know what they were doing?
It sounds almost as if kids had found them?

Hi nihil,
Wouldn't surprise me if it was kids or teenagers...there's alot of Palestinian refuges in Jordan...targets were Isreal, Jordan, and America...only the Palestinians have a beef with all three as far as I know...and they're not above recruiting kids.
I doubt it was al-Qaeda...seems to me someone just wanted to make it look like it was al-Qaeda...but it was too sloppy and unaffective to be them.

Good Morning All,
What always astonishes me is the availability of these rockets and explosives in general. They must have mobile salesmen or something like our old ice cream trucks that would drive around and you could purchase just about any type of snack you wanted. Can hear them now, "Here ya go young lady. This is our latest skirt model of plastik. You can wear this undetected into a disco. Just press the belt buckle and it will leave a crater six feet deep, vaperizing anyone within 50 feet. Also you won't feel anything other than a little warmth." "And for the man of the house, our latest version of a RPG. You can remain well hidden among the villagers and babies while launching this rocket at an unsuspecting crowd."
That clearly indicates funding and support from larger groups, countries, etc. (unless they just have this stuff laying around for the neighborhood kids to play with)
!~cheers~!
