all exe file can't open at MS xp pro

hi all,

i can't open all exe file.skype,mspaint,norton05 .... etc,
I can access internet .So run Bitdefender online virus scan and Trend Mirco online virus scan. I didn't find it all. I think that it will spyware or addware. How can clean it . no safe mode ! I also try from CD Rom ... But It was in vain ! How should i remove or clean this danm virus ?

Online scanning ! After online scanning Trend Micro,It was said no virus found !
I'm using windows xp pro service packs 1. All exe program icon was not like normal. When I open program .. it was appear " windows cannot open this file " rundll32.exe " .......
"ipscan.exe"
I pressed printscreen to show you what happening, I can't open mspaint from run box. It was exe file .

I also run from safe mode. All exe file can't open ( windows cannot open this file ). Happened like normal mode.
control pannel , Add and remove program can't open it.

I try from cdrom, cuz some of program can clean or uninstall program
some can see startup program ( freeware ).

I can't open regedit to see registery. .......

I'd say a backup (not programs, just data)
Format and reinstall would be the way to go..

But before that have you tried booting the WindowsXP CD and it's 'repair' function ??

at this point although repair is possible, id format anyway. what ever did this is probably going to be a pain in the ass to get rid of.


that being said, if you are stubborn, pig headed "aint no malware gonna beat me" type of arrogant dumbass I am you can try the following.

download hijackthis and use that to edit the registry. (post the log here if you need help)
Download a windows based boot boot disk and run the cleaners from there.
Download knoppix and manually delete known bad files.
be sure you are running the AV in safemode along with any other scanners.
download enditall and kill ALL non essential processes.
open msconfig and clean out the start up.
run your scanners again, make sure they are updated.
reboot rinse and repeat.
post an update and well go on from there.

Try merging this regkey into the registry by first renaming the extension to .reg, then right clicking it and selecting merge. Sounds like the file type association for .exe files in HKCR has been deleted. Its nothing malicious, you can view it in notepad.

Usually running sfc (system file checker) will fix this problem. Note, however, you must have a valid Windows XP disc available to complete the process. To run it, open the command prompt (cmd from the Run menu). Typically, cmd should run. Then type the lines below. If cmd doesn't open, run them manually from the Run menu.

sfc /purgecache
sfc /scannow

That should resolve the problem. It's not a virus. It's a corruption in your Windows. I've seen it multiple times and sfc is the quickest way to fix it.

Edit: By the way, dinowuff, if you rename the .zip file to a .reg file as Maesrt0 suggested, you can view or impor t the file.

did you change the extension to .reg like he said? the error is trying to open an archinve, which leads me to believe that you left it as a zip

Did you try running the System Restore Wizard, and restoring to a point before all this started?

Maybe that solution is to easy to work.
