FLASH Question... are there any flashers out there?
I haven't seen too many Macromedia Flash discussions on AO, but if there is anyone out there that can help me, I would really appreciate it.
I am a novice in Flash, but I love it and am learning tons about it. My questions:
I made a cool preloader, went to put it on my website, then realized that I had no idea how and where to embed the HTML to load BEFORE my page loaded. And continue looping until my page (HTML and swf) and completely loaded.
I'm using Flash MX Pro 2004.

I think Flash has the ability to give html output. If not, go here: http://www.w3schools.com/flash/flash_inhtml.asp

I love FlashKit myself, tons of tutorials, examples, and things to play with. People are extremely helpful in the forums as well. I think it's an essential bookmark for someone getting seriously into Flash.

Here are some more links to help you out:

There are only two kinds of programming languages: those people always bitch about and those nobody uses.

a GG it twas you
got a pm asking about this thread - went of to search the forums for my old tutorial and saw "flash preloader" in the most recent search terms - lol
that tut is an old one - but quite popular and it produces the 'bar' and % loaded text that everywhere has these days. Of course you can modify the code to do much more. Play different aniumations depending upon what is loaded etc etc
Heh if you fancied tinkering around with JS and AJAX you could even change the site code (XHTML/etc) depending upon how much is loaded and DB response. But I dont see a practical application for that - might just be a bit of overkill!
I'll keep an eye on this thread - so just ask if you got any more questions
