Bumvertising
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/09/21/bumvertising/
A US net entrepreneur has solved his lack of advertising budget problem by paying beggars to stand motionless beside Seattle Highway exit ramps with ads proclaiming his wares, the Seattle Post Intelligencer reports.
Funny..probably
Moral..probably not.
when I read the headline I thought someone had had their arse tatood[sp?] for a gambling firm.

As a former bum, I am a bit insulted by this... on the other hand, it sounds like a fairly easy job...
Where do I sign up?

That has to be one of the most dangerous substances I ever drank..
Even the 'good' absinthe I had a while back pales in comparison to the weirdness of a night out with the mates and a couple of botles of that shite !

I made more as a bum spanging at the mall than I do as a frame carpenter.

Hey, even a bum's gotta make a living, and what better way to make one and still be lazy?
At the store we've been known to 'hire' a bum to clean our parking lot, take the outside trash to the dumpster, etc. The going rate is a pack of smokes and either a fountain drink or a cold beer. I have yet to have a bum turn me down on the offer, or take the fountain drink. 10 minutes work (which saves us a lot of hassle since we're usually the only employee in the store and trying to do it between customers) nets him about 6 bucks in merchandise. Not a bad take if you consider it - a valuable service for decent barter wages.
Bumvertising might catch on - you see them everywhere in virtually every city of any size. Instead of 'homeless, need food, please help' you'll start seeing 'homeless, please help, sponsored by joe's poker site.' Makes no diff to me, but it'll get noticed.
On the lighter side - the coolest homeless-guy sign I've ever seen was on a highway in West Memphis, Arkansas. It read "screw work, I need a beer." I was so impressed by his honesty I stopped and bought him one.
Even a broken watch is correct twice a day.

Actually this is one of the oldest forms of street advertising, going back to the 1800's.
They used to be called "sandwich men"
