The OS is Fedora Core2 any thoughts anyone?
Thanks

sign up at www.list.nessus.org for the mailing list. It's helped me out a lot with learning the system. The first thing they'll tell you to do is to get updated to 2.2.6, but they will still probably help you get that issue resolved for now. They have a damn fast turnaround time on problems too.
I don't know the answer, but someone there will... It's just a good list to be on if you're going to regularly use that program.

Nessus requires that you register now, go to the followning URL and provide a valid email address(it's all free). They then will send you a command to enter on the box that you have nessus installed. Once you have done it, they place a unique string on the box that is supplied each time you do an update. From that point forward your update should work fine

edit: Ok, now that I've re-read your original post, mine is probably not fitting and you've already been registered. I mis-read the error

A simple check of the nessus-fetch.rc file will tell you if you're registered yet.
Code:
cat /usr/local/etc/nessus/nessus-fetch.rc
If you see login: lots of stuff
and password: lots of stuff
Then you're registered. Remember, it's a seven day delay on plugins unless you pay Tenable.
What point release are you running? 2.2.5? 2.2.6? Many of the plugin update issues I had were tied to the box not having the proper time set or the build I had on there was a little old. I'm not saying that's the case here but it's an easy start to eliminate these items.

Did that recently change to only 7 days? I thought it was a longer wait on plugins before.

The 7 day wait was implemented a few months ago. I wanna say sometime during the summer. Before then, plugins were delivered as soon as they became available for update. Ofcourse you could live on the edge (back then) and get CVS updates but that's a dangerous game with a vuln scanner.
One thing I didn't mention earlier is that the delay is on non GPL nasls.

This gets back to my question. What point release do you have installed? 2.2.what?
