Two points:
The Danes, as a free society beseiged by twelfth century religious fanatics, deserve our support. Let's print the cartoons, wear them, declare we will not put up with this crap. If the Islamist lunatics wish to take offense at our freedom, let them take offense at the entire free world.
*censored*'em.
Defiance counts, as does solidarity.
And the Danes have shown. In world War II, Denmark was occupied by the German Army in 1940. the Danish king chose to stay in Denmark, and rode through the capital, alone and unescorted, every morning to show the flag.
Jews in Denmark never wore the Star of David. The story is that the King swore if one Dane had to wear it, all Danes would wear it.
In August of 1943 a state of energency was announced in Denmark, and the government discovered that the Germans were going to round up Denmark's 7,500 Jews. Collection day was to be October 1. The Danes informed the Rabbi, who advised his flock to go into hiding on Sept. 29. They were hidden in hospitals, private homes, and eventually most were smuggled to Sweden by Danish fishermen.
Out of 7,500 Jews, the Germans managed to arrest and transport just 481.
Defiance counts.

Can we just go take the oil and leave them to play in the sand?
I've adapted my illegal immigrant idea to deal with these protestors.
Anyone protesting in a violent fashion is clubbed to the ground and dragged to a holding cell before being shipped to the coast. Each of these protestors is then given a free ticket to leave the country via a large catapult or trebuchet. Anyone protesting as a bomber is attached to a cheap MK-84 bomb and flicked towards Mecca before being martyred by remote control. The rest of them can swim for it after they get dropped in the North Sea.
Or we could load them into a B52 and drop them over Mecca but that would be expensive.

The message has been out already for quite awhile, and some kid printing more of the same in an unheard-of publication will accomplish nothing.
Free speech doesn't really exist in public schools, with proper reason. This was probably just your garden-variety wannabe-activist who regurgitates everything CNN tells him as if it were his own opinion. If the kid wants to get a message out, he can do it on his own time. Making a potentially disruptive message to get attention has no place in school.
Do you actually read the links provided, or do you just skim and try to get your point over that of the other person....1. It's a Private school, 2. The paper is not unheard of around here, maybe in your sphere it is unheard of. 3. Schools are exactly where this stuff should be brought out and debated..
If you stifle free speech, or censor it in the schools, then you are just as ignorant as those who would abuse it...
The majority of the problems these Islamists have is exactly the fact that they do not teach anything else but their religion in most of their schools...if they opened their education up to accept a wider view of the world, then maybe they would understand the demographics of other countries, and be more open to other religions...?

and be more open to other religions
But the majpr flaw in your premise is that they even believe that there are other religions in their eyes.... I do believe that they don't see any religion other than their own as valid.

[facetous]Which is why, all Muslims under the age of 5 be taken from their parents and placed in environments that teach everything but religion, until they are at an age where they can make informed decisions on their own?[/facetous]
Seriously though, this is the major stumbling block for the majority of Islamists, they have been fed crap for so long it would take years to debrief or what's the word they use when they rescue kids from those cults, sort of unbrainwash them.

Why I Published Those Cartoons
From the horses mouth.
So, over two weeks we witnessed a half-dozen cases of self-censorship, pitting freedom of speech against the fear of confronting issues about Islam. This was a legitimate news story to cover, and Jyllands-Posten decided to do it by adopting the well-known journalistic principle: Show, don't tell. I wrote to members of the association of Danish cartoonists asking them "to draw Muhammad as you see him." We certainly did not ask them to make fun of the prophet. Twelve out of 25 active members responded.
Has Jyllands-Posten insulted and disrespected Islam? It certainly didn't intend to. But what does respect mean? When I visit a mosque, I show my respect by taking off my shoes. I follow the customs, just as I do in a church, synagogue or other holy place. But if a believer demands that I, as a nonbeliever, observe his taboos in the public domain, he is not asking for my respect, but for my submission. And that is incompatible with a secular democracy.

This maybe should be in humor, but I figured most of the comments would appy here:
The Plan!
Robin Williams, wearing a shirt that says
"I love New York" in Arabic.
You gotta love Robin Williams......
Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)
"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a
plan for peace. So, here's one plan."
1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference"
in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin,
Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good 'ole' boys",
we will never "interfere" again.
2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world,
starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines.
They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one
allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.
3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs
together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the
remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom
or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.
4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited
to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation
will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and
don't hide here. Asylum would never be available
to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11
cashiers.
5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the
bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home
baby.
6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include
developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary
drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope
for a while.
7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a
barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can
go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells
filling up the storage sites would be enough.)
8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the
world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for
seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give
them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.
9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace.
We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the
building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.
10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That
way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak
is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?
"The Statue of Liberty is no longer
saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses."
She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "
