Well...it seems the asteroid M5097 has taken a new course direction and is slated to pass through the Earth's outer atmosphere in a ' near miss ' of just over 2000 miles in the first week of September 2009...
M5097 is considered a grade 2 asteroid...meaning it's less than one mile long and under 500 yards wide...a direct hit would be disasterous to say the least but because it will just avoid a direct hit scientists at NASA and the Canadian Centre for Asteroid Research predict and are preparing for the worst case senerio....involving an increase in density and frequency of possible tidal waves, abrupt hurricanes, earthquakes, and ground swells...immediately before and for two years after...
the US Air Force is also looking at ways to divert the path of M5097 before it enters the outer atmosphere.
