JP - Questions Asked & Answered

    Greetings All:

Well, despite my efforts to start several legitimate threads relevant to the topic of information security, many on here appear to be obsessed with me on a personal level, so in hopes that those threads stand SOME chance of getting back on topic, I'm starting this thread.

My current dealings don't involve computer security, which is why I've not brought them up on here before. However, since those threads weren't closed, and those that were speaking about off-topic matters were getting plenty of positive APs for doing so, and since some of the people that brought up these matters were moderators, I would assume that starting this thread is an appropriate thing to do.

First, let me say that yes, I do own SEVERAL adult-oriented sites, and also have significant holdings in domain-name investments as well (2 letter .coms, 3 letter .coms, dictionary words, etc). Those are my two primary areas of business currently.

I work on a regular basis with some of the largest names in adult entertainment, including business dealings with Playboy, and am mentioned on a regular basis in all of the industry magazines as well as at major industry conventions.

I am a member of several adult industry trade groups, including the ASACP, Association Of Sites Advocating Child Protection, which works closely with the FBI, DOJ, and Center for Missing And Exploited Children to track down, and bring to justice those that abuse children. I am also a member of the Free Speech Coalition.

So, feel free to ask me what you'd like about adult entertainment (I'm involved in both gay and straight), or anything else related, so that it stays out of other unrelated threads.

I will not provide links to any of my properties, however. I know others have linked to some of them in other threads, but I will not do so, as this forum allows individuals under the age of 18 to register, and I don't think linking to adult properties in an environment filled with minors is the least bit appropriate (Although it would appear that the moderators would disagree, as some of them were ones posting those urls in the first place. Apparently we have different ethical standards).

    Thanks.

Note: The ONLY reason that I started this thread is that I was accused of running CP sites in another thread, and as such, felt compelled to respond. Personally, I don't believe this topic belongs on this site at all. The fact that MODERATORS were posting links to adult sites on here is shocking to me. But, if MODERATORS feel it appopriate to bring up this topic, and attempt to use it to attack me in a misleading way, I am left with no choice but to continue the conversation to clarify misinformation.

Could you give links to the threads, in witch moderators where giving out links to gay pr0n sites JP, i must of missed those threads/posts etc etc..

Unless you consider a dns lookup of a site a direct link to a site then i must be confused.

Yes, providing the name, title, description, and url to a dns listing of an adult site on this forum shouldn't be tolerated, PERIOD much less by a damn MODERATOR?!?! This place is crawling with underage individuals. Directing people in a thread to PORN SITES isn't something a moderator should be doing.

As for you, you've decided attacking me left and right is a great way to build your own self esteem. From reading through many of your recent posts, I think you have some damn nerve criticizing ANYBODY on here for "not contributing" in a positive manner.

Where'd your gold dot go?? I know this isn't pron oriented but curiousity doesnt hurt. And the topic is generically based at questions... I also noticed after i dont know how many years your pic disappeared as well??

From what I can tell from the most recent flaming in your threads is that you havent posted in a year and then the two posts you do drop in on follow a very great starting point and make a fast B-line into what appears to be some personal/political agenda. From your articles it appears as if you are capable of starting an intellectual conversation but you have no follow through... it appears as if instead of sticking to a "IT" related conversation you exit on a tangent about the current administration or whatever else. I understand some opinion will belong in any conversation but seriously?

I have noticed in the past year that you complained about noone helping the "soccer moms" but with the vast knowledge you must have in the IT field I would think you might step in and field a question or two? But I have seen nothing? Please explain?

Is there still a market in "cyber-squating"? I thought that had kind of dissipated

Keep in mind I in no way shape or form are attempting to take any side of this flame war that is going on but I would like to see if the comments that are floating about are of truth or if you have something to contribute

CyberSquatting is illegal in the United States. It involves the process of registering domain names for which there is a valid or similar Trademark registered. IE: registering microsoftt.com and trying to sell it to Microsoft. As I've said, that's illegal to do, and the valid trademark holder can obtain the domain from you by force, without fee, by filing a complaint to ICANN.

However, there is a MASSIVE industry around "domain brokering". This involves selling things like 2 or 3 letter .com's, or "dictionary words" for which no trademark can be obtained. For example, registering "fish.com", and the reselling it in the future.

Obviously, most "good" domains are already registered, so it's a matter of buying from 1 party, holding onto the domain for a period of time until it can be resold to a 3rd party at a profit. Of course, "dropped" domains are also a great source for items to resell.

ANYONE that has ever truly been involved in information security can tell you that "policy" and "politics" play JUST as significant of a role as "architecture" does. I think you should take notice that those that have criticized my recent 2 threads the most, are those that have been involved in a professional manner in information security the least.

In fact, the intent of my first thread was indeed to be a political one. I firmly believe that had the Republicans not been in control for the past several years, we wouldn't be seeing many of the disturbing trends against privacy in this country that we are currently seeing.

As for me not answering questions. Have you by chance noticed what happens when I try to post? Haha.

I come around once every 6 months or so to touch base with old friends and catch up, and make a few threads while I'm at it. I think it causes enough disruption as it is, without me attempting to contribute on a regular basis.

The children on here have their crayons, and it appears as if the walls aren't off limits.....

Funny how you have a problem with moderators who post links to pron, yet it's ME that gets bashed by you? I don't post much fo anything to you. And yuo know anything I've ever said about you because I actually have the balls to say it right near you.

I don't talk about people here behind their backs, but it's to much to ask for the same in return it appears. Everyone here that goes on IRC seems to have a problem with me when I'm not around, but never when I'm here talkign to someone. I know what was going on in IRC, and even though I don't plan on ever meeting any fo you in there in person, I think it's a might large lack of testicles to not come to ME when someone has a problem with ME.

And for the record for the 900th time, I didn't ban doppy, I didn't ban whiz kid every time either. Yet I got blamed for it. I was just waiting for someone to ask why I banned JP. I didn't but I know it would come up.

And since we are asking questions.... Is your account set to auto kill? You were banned today like 4 times and all of us could not for the life of us figure out why. It was around 10 AM or so, nothing really was going on, the load on the server wasn't huge, nothing else was really going wrong but some people got banned, and then you were banned like at least 7 times.

Had to keep unbanning you all morning and it seems to have finally stopped.

Does anyone have a link to the thread where someone in the mod staff posted a link to pron? I seriously don't recall that but I'd like to check it out.

Believe it or not even the people who run their mouths about me still get a fair treatment from me here. MY job and my personal feelings are two very different things.

    While on this same topic:

For the people who DO have a problem with me, you know, a PM may help. I wouldn't ban someone for telling me WHY they have a problem. If that isn't something wanted, then contact an admin and file a complaint.

I don't mind people not liking me, no mod is going to be loved all day, but I would like to know why so I can improve, and therefore, improve this site.

I think the administrators decided that the "Gold Dot" could be used as a pacifier to calm down all of the children that have been crying on here lately.

    and

The vast majority of this legislation has been spurred under the guise of protecting minors. A common argument in Senate Subcommittee meetings is that parents simply aren't as technologically sophisticated as their children, and lack the understanding and ability to properly protect and monitor their own computers. Truth be told, this is probably a very valid argument, even if the proposed solutions would lack effectiveness.

It would seem to me then, a priority for those who care about freedom of expression and who wish to see the internet remain an open medium for communication, would be to help educate those who currently lack an understanding of ways to monitor and control their private home computers.
So you care about protecting minors now? Or do you care about freedom of speech? How can you have one message saying that parents should be educated on how to protect their kids so that adults can post and do whatever they want without having to worry about little kiddies seeing what they are doing, and then in the next post bitch about people posting porn sites?

Is it maybe because in your heart you know that you really don't do enough to make sure that the people visiting your site are of age? Is having somebody click a button saying "I'm 18" really enough? I don't think so. That would never work at a bar, a tittie joint, a gay strip club, or a casino. Why should it work with an online porn site?

Is your posturing and complaing more about the people in the online porn industry knowing that the easy and free ride they have had is coming to an end. I for one would love to see the government enforce some type of rules that would make online porn sites do more to confirm who is viewing their site. Just like bars do, just like casino's do, and just like stripjoints and brick and mortar porn stores do.

But, if MODERATORS feel it appopriate to bring up this topic, and attempt to use it to attack me in a misleading way, I am left with no choice but to continue the conversation to clarify misinformation.

The purpose of me listing several companies / organizations that I'm involved in was to show that I'm not some shady "child pornographer" that I was accused of being in other threads. I run a legitimate legal business that has dealings with some of the largest names in its industry, including ones that are publicly traded.

I think it would be hard to counter-act such accusations, without providing a "short list" of organizations that I'm associated with.
