    CMDBs are Too Shallow

I just read a post from Alex Bakman on his Change and Configuration Management blog talking about CMDBs and claiming they are too shallow to be effective. Check it out here (link) and let me know your thoughts.

This argument is as old as, "Which is better, Windows or Linux?" The bottom line is that the usefulness of the amount of data collected is based on two things. The first is how much of it you actually use and the second is how you perform your analysis. The point at which you stop looking at the data is the point you've collected too much.
