Sketch Pad
I've never seen this on any other vbulletin site or anything, but i had the idea for a 'sketch' pad under the quick reply box. something like a basic paint app that you could draw up a quick diagram or picture to aid in your litteral description. it would seem to be much easier than opening paint, saving the doc and then using imageshack.
sound like a good idea or am i high again?

Hrmm... I don't see too much of a need for sketch pad/paint designs as I don't see too many picture attachments. Most of the time I would imagine that people would use Visio or some other diagram type program for images, when needed.

Yes, that will be why you don't see it on other forums. People either use specialist drawing packages (flowcharts etc) or more general ones that they are familiar with.

I like the idea but I'm not sure how useful it would be... usefulness depends on lots of stuff. What you need to ask your target group is "Would you make use of an on-demand graphical applet that is within your posts?" And if they like it, ask what they would like to see in it. From there you can worry about UI, features, and so on.

Well, I think that we have learned the hard way that it is not a good idea to mess with proprietary site management software?
We are still sorting things out, and some just never will be unless they are redone.
Sure, I can think of ways around it without compromising the integrity of the software, but it would not be anything like as professional as using a proper tool and appending the result as an attachment.

I would think that another reason one doesn't see a lot of image attachments to messages is that it requires just that much more extra effort. If as little effort were required to attach a quick diagram to a post as just doodling it quick in a box next to the box where you type the post, you might see it used more often.

And that is not supported by the software

something similar to this... It's magical, timeless and brings all generations together - it's the Etch A Sketch!
