    Unhappy Linux installation not getting started

    Hi

    I am trying to install Red Hat 9 Enterprise on a PC(although, I like Suse more), but the installation is not getting started.

    When I boot from the CD, it the initial process starts where it ask whether you want to continue in text or gui mode, etc. After, then when it tries to load the linux kernel....vmlinux...the computer reboots.

    Its a HP Compaq Presario SR1130IL.

    The installation media is error free....I have tried it on another machine, and it worked there. I have tried installing from another set also, but the problem was still there.

    Any suggestion as to what to try??

    When it prompts you for text or GUI mode which option do you choose? Does it fail both ways? Being a Presario does it meet the minimum requirements for RH9?
    Work... Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints...

    Some computers actually just dont like loading images like that. I have never found away around it....

    It's usually some driver in the kernel that's the cause. ACPI could be the problem.
