    Lilo problem

I install slackware 10.2 on this IDE disk, and windows Xp on a sata disk. Then I put a Lilo bootloader in the MBR of the IDE disk. I used a sata-compatible kernel (test26.s). I add both windows and linux to the lilo config.
Booting linux works perfectly fine, but when I select "Windows" in lilo, it just says: "Booting windows", and then my system hangs. I used the latest Lilo version, so it can't be a bug that is fixed at this moment. Anyone have a clue what the problem could be?

Are you certain that the Windows installation will actually boot?.............is the SATA disk bootable?

Sorry I don’t have time to help, I’m late for work.

But it sounds like a problem mapping the drives.

Remember, Windows likes to always be the first and foremost OS on the system. If you boot to another drive then you have to map the drives through LILO so that when windows does boot it thinks it is the first OS on the system.

Maybe an output of your lilo.conf would help?

Remember when mapping you need to switch an ide with a sata!

Yea, never mind. Some fancy map-drive statements fixed the problem.

Boot into Slackware, open a command console and post the result of fdisk -l and also the content of /etc/lilo.conf

    This site may also help,
