Reduce WindowsXP/Vista login time for domain users
Hey guys, had a question about reducing login time. If the user is authenticating to the domain, but using the local default profile as a skeleton, what's making it take so long, (like 40+ seconds) (or is this a decent number). I even tried roaming profiles (25MB) and it still took 40 seconds. any ideas?

Well,
If the times are the same then maybe it is what else is booting?....... AV, Firewall, office suite, and so on?
Also, when was the machine last defragmented? and what percentage of its HDD is used?

this is not the time it takes to boot up, this is the time, from when you put in your username and password and hit enter, till the desktop shows up.

I know installing UPHclean helped speed up our login a bit. But, we use roaming profiles so, I don't know if this will help your specific case.
From MS:
System processes and applications occasionally maintain connections to registry keys in the user profile after a user logs off

Well, I get about 25 seconds, and that is without authenticating to a network.
Do you have any USB devices connected?
