CSS Question (Menu Bar) using a tutorial

I am looking at the following tutorial (learning CSS) and just by following the steps they have listed here (http://webdesigninfo.wordpress.com/2...-css-menu-bar/) it does not show a menu bar and only lists the links vertically in text (list format). Am I doing something wrong just by copy/paste what they have into a text document? Is there a better tutorial?

Greetings download this Zip and just edit the CSS and the .html to suit your needs

the tutorial in your link doesn't work, well i couldn't get it to, and i usually have no trouble with css stuff.

the .zip file was taken from http://www.styledmenus.com/

Thank you, I was more interested in creating something standard as the show in the tutorial. Just a solid bar with links and maybe in the future adding a drop down menu. The one that you attached is a little to fancy and does not fit what I am working on. As I am new, I am just keeping it basic for starters.

You can still do that with the stuff in that zip file.

just change the colour details in the CSS file

you can change the font, the font colours etc just by editing the default one's in the css file..

And if you want to change what the words are just edit the .html file and add the links etc

hard to say what may be going wrong without seeing the actual page that you're working on.

I resolved the issue, only to find two more.

#1. My menu bar is indented
#2. My menu bar is good in IE, in FireFox it is unaligned and moved down and doesn't line up with the background color.
