I will definitely make a note of that. Thanks for the help!
Once things calm down at work, and I feel a bit more settled into Win7 here at home, I will probably go ahead and give that a shot.

Opera. Hands down. Crashes on me in Linux. Crashes on me
in Windows. A veritable memory hog. I used to swear by v.3.62
until scripting came of age (the early 2000's?). Fastest gun...
.er...browser in the West. Back in those days. Now? You can
have it.
Firefox w/ NoScript is my choice these days. Not the fastest
gun out there, but sure does give me a handle on the nefarious
world of browser scripts. Jeez, go to one site these days and
you're connected to ten webservers!

Ugh, do I need to send you to a floor tile lifted room? 8 GBs of RAM and Firefox takes you said around 10 seconds? This machine has an Intel Celeron 2.40 GHz Single Core Processor and 512 MBs RAM, with Debian. Opera takes about 3 seconds to go.
On my test machine, I have these specs:
FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE
433 MHz Celeron old as crap Processor
192 MBs RAM
Opera takes about as long as Firefox takes you with 8 ggis of RAM lol.
when I saw the specs I thought it was odd until I saw you were running Windows and Firefox.
I used to love Firefox. But lately it just isn't something I like. I do use it for some things from time to time, like testing HTML. Other than that I hate it.
I don't like IE either. The newest version isn't as bad, but it still isn't something I'd release if I had worked on it.
This is what I use since they all weren't listed in the poll :
Opera
Galeon
Dillo
Links
Lynx
W3
I miss Netscape though.
EDIT:
WTF is Kmelon? And this poll went to another thread by the way.

Heh... the 8gb is actually because I do quite a bit of work with VMs. After the first load, new FF windows open almost instantaneously. When I boot to Linux on the same machine, firefox opens pretty quickly... I would say <5 seconds. I have always had that problem with firefox though [in Windows].
At work, after I first boot, it will take 30-45 seconds to open [I am in the process of ordering a new work system... my current one is getting pretty dated]. I would use Opera, but one of the sites I visit the most, our webmail [running Zimbra], doesn't display correctly, unless I use HTML only. If I try to use the standard view, it is all jacked up.

I'm trying to think of what I'd do with 8 GBs of RAM and my first thoughts are DooM3 and Quake 4. It's the most system intensive thing I have here unless you count Microsoft's Server software heh. When I ordered my laptop years ago, it didn't have an option for some stuff, and the thing I wanted most was something that wasn't going to drain battery life since a Laptop should be able to work off just Battery for a while, and so I downgraded everything except the Processor which I left with a Pentium 4 M, and then upgraded the RAM to 512 and Battery to Lithium Ion. The rest I didn't care about so I got it cheap by the standards of then with decent power. Today it's showing age but not as bad s the rest of my stuff.
If I was ordering a brand new Desktop, I think I'd go with 8 GBs of RAM if I could, and a really good processor that ran cool, and put most of the cash not in that into the Video card, HDs, and Monitor. Like the Alpha I want so badly

With head bowed down.
This is what happens when you sleep only 4 hours a day and have to resort to pills at time just to get sleep.
Sigh.
I took the entire thing completely wrong. The word dislike didn't get processed through my overheated brain at all.
Sigh again..
I love opera. I always will. :
