I can not see how any of these leaks have endangered any lives...sounds like political spin to me. Please someone enlighten me!!

What I dont understand is how Assange gets put on the Interpol most wanted for sex without a condom....and someone like Roman Polanski who sodomized a 14 year old girl has been roaming around free for 30 years


Also how MasterCard, Visa and PayPal all collect money for the KKK and questionable p0rn and god knows what else and wont for Wikileaks!

Here are my two cents (your mileage may vary) and my first post here at AO for a loooooong time.

I'd like to express my opinion that the release of "sensitive" documents is not the danger to peoples' lives, its the information in it.

If governments were acting morally just and operated transparently to its citizens, as they should be, there would be no possibility of danger to people with the release of "sensitive" documents as there would be nothing incriminating in them.

Alas, humans have had some fundamental flaws that continue to barrage our stability as a species.

Greed. Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely. Those in power strive to stay in power.
Sloth. People are too lazy to think for themselves and so allow others to do it for them.
Wrath. People get upset too easily over what amounts to a "hill of beans". All of the worldly events happening now and before do not, have never and never will have a direct influence upon my spirituality, which I hold on the highest pedestal.

Unless people decide to stand for themselves, this stuff will actually seem to matter...governments and individuals could not stay in power if we, the millions/billions NOT in power would stand up and ship them out...

Well, the leaks seem to be endangering Bradley Manning.

He's going to spend a long time behind bars, and now faces
new charges as a result of Wikileaks supposedly.

There is some sensitive material, one document in particular
that names critical infrastructure facilities around the world.

I wonder if the physical location of Google's server farms
was named?

edit - let me add I've tried to view some of the Wikileak
documents and they are only available via torrents apparently.
There's decades' worth of material there and no quick way
to get thru it, IMO.

Wikileaks: Heroes or Villains?

First of all, I have to put the issue on a political view. So, the spreadinga and condemnation
of hidden crimes seems good to me. But the hype on this shady Assange guy is so high that
I keep a suspicious eye on him.

Back to security-related issues: recent attacks at paypal were widely supported by many
groups that are growing like mushrooms on social sites as Twitter. They even have a motto...

The AES-Key for the torrent file will be released if Assange captivity will get worse,
as he could be sent to the US for trial.

No, he is behind bars because he bragged to Adrian Lamo. If he wouldn't have done something as foolish as that, he would still be free. [Or if Lamo wouldn't have ratted him out] Wikileaks has done a pretty good job protecting their sources, as far as I can tell... but they can't stop someone from running their mouth, and incriminating themselves.

Last time I checked, condoms are not required in the US. Though, working in a school system has made me wonder if they should be.
