Yes. python is applicable for the web.
Abaqus (Finite Element Software)
ADvantage Framework.
Amarok.
ArcGIS, a prominent GIS platform, allows extensive modelling using Python. These are the softwares that support python.

Python has many applications like automation, data science, web applications etc. For your specific questions, you need to use Django and flask frame works for web apps. You can check out BigDataers for python apps.
