freenode – around 90k users at peak hours
IRCnet – around 30k users at peak hours
EFnet – around 18k users at peak hours
Undernet – around 17k users at peak hours

Rizon – around 14k users at peak hours
OFTC – around 13k users at peak hours
DALnet – around 8k users at peak hours

The AO IRC got shut down a long time ago because Swift kept calling Brad and JP late at night.
I believe the last statement in there was "I am not amused."
