Hey there,

I'm in my early 20's and will begin my undergraduate coursework next week in the field of cybersecurity. I was pursuing an engineering degree but have switched over to the field of information technology. In 3 years I will have a B.S. in Cybersecurity.

I am hoping to hear from some current or past undergrad cybersecurity students. What was the coursework like? Most difficult subjects to look out for? Best ways to learn? Any online communities for undergrad students? etc.

And maybe there are some current professionals working in the field reading this. What traits do you look for in new cybersecurity candidates? Would an engineering background help a candidate stand out or is that irrelevant in the field of cybersecurity?

Hoping to get some answers from you guys. and to start discussions.

Best,
A
