Does the free antivirus help?
How good is the free antivirus?
I would be happy not to pay if its possible

Do they really secure the PC even if they are free because after instaling Antivirus like Avira i feel passwords in google chrome are getting compromised.

Windows Defender protects those who cannot be bothered to install a third-party antivirus tool. Recommend adding MalwareBytes to that though.

I've been using the Windows Defender for a year now - no problems so far.

If you install an antivirus, it is very important that it regularly updates its databases!

If it’s between good or bad, my opinion is - they’re good. In Windows it’s certainly much better to use a free AV than not use AV at all. I haven’t used Windows for the last years, but from what I’ve read, Windows Defender seems to have become competitive lately. In the past I’ve had interesting experience with the free Avast - it seems to update frequently and ping you with a lot of notifications in the beginning, after a few months it becomes silent. Not sure if this means it doesn’t update or it just updates quietly.

I agree. Windows Defender would likely be your best bet in this case.
