Hi everyone,

I'm working on a project focused on helping international students who come to Egypt for their university education. As part of my research, I realized that many students are not well-prepared for the cybersecurity risks they might face while studying abroad ? especially in a new digital environment.

Here are a few key tips I believe are essential for international students studying in Egypt (or anywhere, really):

1. Always use a VPN on public Wi-Fi**
Whether you're at a cafe, airport, or university, public Wi-Fi can be risky. A VPN helps encrypt your data and protect your identity online.

2. Be cautious with unfamiliar apps**
Some students download local apps for transport, food delivery, or study resources. Make sure those apps are legitimate, check their permissions, and download only from trusted sources.

3. Watch out for phishing emails**
Many universities send official emails regarding registration, exams, and fees. Always verify the sender's email and avoid clicking suspicious links.

4. Keep your devices updated**
A lot of international students neglect software updates ? these often include critical security patches. Always keep your phone and laptop updated.

5. Use strong, unique passwords**
Many students reuse passwords across multiple platforms. Using a password manager can make things safer and easier.

I'm developing a platform that supports international students coming to Egypt. While the main focus is on the education system, we've started adding tips on digital safety as well.

Would love to hear your thoughts ? especially from those of you working in cybersecurity. Are there specific threats that students in new environments should be more aware of? Any tips or resources you?d recommend?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!
