I need more speed!
I know its practicaly a sin, but I am still using an old 56k modem to connect to my ISP. The speed is so frustrating! Can anyone recomend a prog or something that could possibly boost my performance a little? (besides a cable modem!)

Check your MTU size. With dialup that's pretty much the only place you can tweak to get better speed.
Dr TCP is a good lil' prog for that.

There was a thread about this not too long ago...I forget which(lotta help I am, eh), but from what I remember you would need a significant amout of hardware plus another phone line to implement it...

Depending what OS you are using, TweakNow has both Customizer XP (for 2000 & XP machines) and Customizer 2000 (for 95-ME machines). Both of these programs have a large number of tweaks, including the ability to optimize your Internet for your specific connection. Otherwise, you may want to look into getting either some other form of Internet access (DSL, Cable, Satellite) or getting a second modem and set them up to work together (see the following for info on that: http://www.antionline.com/showthread...ht=Dual+modems)

Oops...you found that link before I did, avdven...
I'm off to try Customizer2000, but will that interfere with TweakUI in any way?

TweakUI and Customizer (in my experience) do not interfere with each other at all. Customizer has many more features than TweakUI, and the new interfaces that they've added over the last few months, have greatly improved its usability and functionality.
BTW: Here's a link to TweakNow (for those who can't find it themselves):

Whats wrong with 56K? I still use it. I mean, I still use it at work, shared between 30 other people, so it can't be that bad, now can it?
