Little Poetry Contest
Hey everyone, I had a little idea from reading the thread, 'Poet'. I think, lets have a poetry contest. Only our own words, our own work. No plagerizing, if you cheat we will tell because I have enough Poetry books to know, trust me. So let the contest begin! As for my poem:
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
How many times does life stabbed you back
After you've done wrong, repentence you lack
Moving like silence, head turned away
Looking for safety, a haven to stay
But hiding is sinful
You look straight on
Life has you cornered
And so has your wrong
But out of the darkness
A light for the stray
A shining light for the homeless
And for you it will stay
A banner that waves
A nation that stands
Those who bear false witness
Are still welcomed with open hands
You call it your homeland
Your nation
Where you're fathers died
American the beautiful
Stand tall in your pride

How many poems can I submit? Poetry, oddly, is one of my favorite pastimes, I have a lot. But here's a new one:
My mind is held captive;
My imagination chained by the truth.
My thoughts are censored;
My invention blotted out.
The power in charge
Is changing me,
A mirror image of itself.
I cannot run
For that would betray
A cause in which I do not believe.
To think for myself is a crime.
To speak out is punishable by death.
What can I do?
I'm trapped in a world
Where I do not belong.

I would say one.. your best one... very good poem I like it. We need some judges! If you're a judge, you can not submit a poem for obvious purposes.

Some Thoughts on Life's Fragility and the Goodness of God
Eternal God, in your eyes our plans but wisps of steam,
here today, tommorrow gone, a transitory dream.
We live our lives an endless race, to reach a goal uncertain,
knowing not, the day, the hour, when drops the final curtain.
Every breath a gift from you, delivered from your hands,
but still we labor, labor on, to meet our pride's demands.
We strive for truth, and search for meaning, to make some sense or reason,
but from our eyes the truth lies hidden, waiting for a distant season.
But death the great unknown awaits us all at last,
it waits to claim us as its own when all at last is past.
But death, O God, you have conquered, its threat for us is gone,
though death awaits, we face it, we face it not alone.
Let truth be hidden, let knowledge be unrevealed,
let life remain a mystery, and wisdom stay concealed;
For faith will be our guide through the shadows of this night,
and faith will light our way and give us perfect sight.
In your grace you give us hope, and hope will bring us through,
like a shepherd in the night, our hope will guide us true.
Love, perfect love, shall cast out every fear,
and love shall be the hand, that cleanses every tear.
Your love, my God, never fails, and never ends,
to know your love is to find the place where life itself begins.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23, WEB)

I have to say two thumbs up
I love how you take pride in Jesus and all his work. If its one thing I try to do, is to follow in His ways. I don't know what religion you are, but I know I am Roman Catholic, and I try to live up to that. I loved those, good job!
