I also sugest Sams Teaches You C++. You can get it at just about any bookstore.

As for books I would recommend
Visual c++ in 12 easy lessons: about as basic as you can get. Great if you know absolutely nothing
Using Visual c++ 6: A great steeping stone into the world of windows programming.
Its not software piracy. I’m just making multiple off site backups.
