    The only way I can think of, as Pec said, is blocking ICMP packets.

    Actually, it's not possible for a server to appear offline, because by definition a server runs a daemon/service that listens on a network, therefore some kind of port will be shown as open.

    Streamer is very correct, if your computer simply ignores all incoming traffic, it would take someone highly skilled to detect whether your box was truly online or offline.

    well i was asking this information because i have been scaning this webpage is hackers challenge so i have permision to 2 it but i have never been able to see it conected thats why y ask well tx you guys have really thought me a lot with your answers
