I hate the stupid dog in the search window. The last thing I need is useless advice from some retarded cartoon dog. Thank god you can turn it off. If I want to be treated like an idiot I'll go buy a Mac. I spent 3 days turning off all the lame un-necessary features. The word that describes xp best is blot ware.

p.s some one build some X windows drivers for the radeon 7500
Its not software piracy. I’m just making multiple off site backups.

xp not the flavour of the month here at AO is it?
ive been using a 'modified' version of Xp pro for about 3 or 4 months now because of its supposed stability similar (but not as good as) win 2000, yes i do have a linux box which sadly i dont use very often, but a lot of the work i need to do for uni is on ms products so i guess im stuck with it

xp seems to like any system with over 256 meg of ram, i put it on a friends amd 800 with only 128 meg and it ran like a dog (not as bad as the yellow one tho :-), obviously one of those things that you either dont like at all or dont like very much, only really bad problem with XP is the amount of software that wont run like it should on it, almost anything has to be run in some form of 'compatibility' mode which doesnt seem to work half the time anyway.

apart from all those problems it runs fairly quicky for a ms o/s, probly due to the fact that you can never get anything to run that will hold it back in the first place i guess...

I have mixed systems throughout my network... W9x, W2k & XP.

The systems I get the least support calls on are, by far, the W2k Pro & XP Pro.

Come to think of it, I think I've had fewer than 5 lockups OR blue screens on the 2k Pros and they've been running for over a year.

It's getting tougher, however, to buy 2k. MS is, in their usual style, forcing my vendors to only offer XP on the o/s.
