    linux mandrake is my fav, and altho it gets badmouthed n' everything i still say xp is nice. (xp pro that iz)

    What are you using it for?
    Is it a server?
    If so, what type? File/printer/application/web/email/etc etc
    Is it a desktop machine?
    How many people will be using it?
    What will you use it for?
    What do you currently know?
    How well do you learn new things?
    etc etc etc

    i have to agree with soulman depends on what you feel comfortable using to if you havet used windows for a while and jump in to linux or free bsd u wont have a clue what to do with your os

    I like xp for a desktop OS. I wouldn't suggest it for a server though.
