Thread: What in your opinion could justify torture?

  1. #11
I tihnk torture should be replaced with something that would be less cruel to someone. Too torture someone just for information is kind of stepping down to the level of the terrorists. Well thats my opinion.

    torture

I don't believe that torture is right in any which way, but my thoughts are this, for some reason, so many gray lines have come about in this world, pretty much so people can get there way. THe gray line justifies what they are doing, even though they may know in the back of their mind that it is wrong, they just need a reason for them to get away with it. In some instance, torture (and by torture i mean mental torture) could be useful, but in reality, what does the torture end with? death? scars? unstableness in mind and body? Torture is a last resort for getting something that is wanted. As far as the government is, i don't know much, but they are for sure out in there own world about everything. My point is torture is wrong. Thanks for reading..

I think we should do unto them as they do unto us. You know, they are all about the LAW OF ABRAHAM. So an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. No mercy for the hypocritical.

i think torture could justified for saving lives. if some lunatic hides a suitcase Abomb in an undisclosed location, torturing him/her to find the location, before it goes off might be considered a good thing by some.

I would have to agree with Tedob1 on that, if it for SURE saves a lot of lives, yes.
I also agree with you Toker...but only in principle. Are you talking about "pre-emptive" strikes? Also are you talking about possibly collective punishment?

hmmmm without reading to much into this thread, im more of the guy that goes in and gets people out. my preference is not letting people stay arround long enuf to be tourtured, but within the confines of the law. if they are un armed then i just hand em off to those that do the interigation. not my job, so i dont need to think about it......

I'd torture someone if it were life or death, like someone kidnapped my kid, brother, sister father mabey even wife.

Torture is an incredibly cruel action. I don't think that I could bring myself to physically torture someone. In a civilised society, one should never be tortured, because as avdven mentioned, chemicals can extract information from your brain. There would be no other reason to torture someone... right?
