And in local news...
WARNING : THIS HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH SECURITY, I MERELY FELT IT NOTE WORTHY AS IT SICKENS ME NEARLY AS MUCH AS DOES THE GOVERMENT POTENTIALLY PERMITTING HOLLYWOOD TO CRACK P2P NETWORKED MACHINES.
Get a load of this :
Man sues fast food restaurants for his obesity.
Read the article here.
Minor Rant starts :
Now, I listen to NPR radio and its programming a lot. Some months ago they were talking about the manner in which people were now sueing the tobacco industry. One lawyer/ expert they had on at the time said that with the way things were going, the increase in litigations, it wouldn't surprise him to learn that people would start sueing snack manufacturers, (ie Pepsi, frito-lays, hostess, etc), for the fact that they were making something that was considered "Addictive" in some fashion. What in the hell makes people think that for their laziness they can sue a major manufacturer and get away with it? Do they really belive that all this time they were gorging themselves on triple cheeseburgers, french fries, twinkies, cream pies, and so on and so forth, that they were consuming healthy items? Do they really believe that the one leaf of lettuce they get in their cheeseburger is enough of a vegetable to keep them healthy and somewhat fit? Does it ever occur to these people that if they would get off the couch and excercise even a little bit each day they would be more lively and well equipped in life? If this kind of thing ever crossed their minds, what did they think, eating buttered popcorn while watching jerry springer would be better for them? What a bunch of f@$%ing retards. God forbit they should start to think for themselves and realize that hey, maybe the lifestyle they lead isn't so good. But neh, it's easier to pass the buck and potentially make a few on the side while doing so. Bunch of jack asses.
This really aggravates the crap out of me. It aggravates me nearly as much as knowing that hollywood is pushing for the ability to crack machines running p2p sharing. In the end, maybe these idiots sueing the snack food industries will be a good thing.
rant ends.
What do you all think. Is this any more justified that hollywood pushing for the right to crack with the reason of suspicion? Am I way off base and askewed from the rest of the worlds way of thinking? I can't see that I'm too far off here, this just doesn't make sense.

To quote The Eagles (one of my all-time favorite bands) song titled "Get over it"
"
i turn on the tubewhat do i see,
a whole lot a people cryin' "don't blame me"
they point their crooked little fingers at everybody else
spend all their time felin' sorry for them selves
victim of this, victim of that
your mommas too thin; and your daddys too fat
get over it
get over it
all this whinin' and cryin' and pitchin' a fit
you say ya haven't been the same since ya had your little crash
but you might feel better if they gave you some cash
the more i think about it, ol' billy was right
let's kill all the lawers- kill 'em tonight
you don't wanna work you wanna live like a king
but the big bad world doesn't owe you a thing
get over it
get over it
ya don't want to play then you might as well split
get over it, get over it
it's like going to confession every time i hear you speak
your makin' the most of your losin' streak
some call it sick, but i call it weak
yeah yeah yeah
yeah you drag it around like a ball an' chain
you wallow in the guilt; you wallow in the pain
you wave it like a flag, you wear it like a crown
got your mind in the gutter, bringin' everybody down
ya bitch about the present and blame it on the past
i'd like to find your little child an' kick it's little ass
get over it
get over it
all this bitchin' and moanin' and pitchin' a fit
get over it, get over it
get over it
get over it
it's gotta stop some time so why don't you quit
get over it,get over it
get over it "

That's just not right. It seems that as time goes by, lawsuits are getting more and more absurd.
Remember the lady who sued McDonalds for serving the coffee too hot, without a warning? It's common sense that coffee is served hot...not cold.

sounds to me just a scam to make money/rip mcdonalds off/get them back for something else. did this person happen to be an x-employee of any fast food chain. because this could be a non-violent postal move.

Nah...just some poor overweight slob who can't quite grasp the concept of the term 'diet' or understand the consequences of massive intake of fat and calories. Welcome to the 'United States of Litigation'...please leave your wallet with the nice attorney at the door.

I would like to introduce a new legislation called the Zepherin bitchslap policy. In which every time something like this shows up the govenment flys me to said location and I spend the next 24 and a half minutes bitchslapping them.

I would like to file an amendment that extends the 'bitchslap' session to 90 minutes and expand the BSD (Bitch Slap Delegation) to include 14 more AO delegates in order to facilitate bitchslapping of legislators in a timely fashion. I would further move that AO members be granted discretionary powers to bitchslap any attorney or plaintiff involved in such frivolous litigation.
