4 (I gotta think of something better than that) I get so disgusted with the me, me, attitude in this country sometimes, I really have to control myself when posting on boards like this. I realize people from all over the world post here and some of these comments might be from overseas.
What everyone seems to be overlooking is that the attacks are not over. We're going to get hit again, and again after that. Until, as was said a year ago, we hunt them down and eliminate them wherever they are, we aren't going to be safe. Considering the various types of gas and biological weapons available, the next attack might make the last seem insignificant. And, enough of that stuff can be carried across either of our borders to wipe out a fair sized city.
Terrorists don't have to try to drive in. On my State's border, and neighboring Arizona's, illegals are walking across at will. America's borders reminds me of the guy who put up chicken wire to keep flies out of the hen coop. They're about as secure.
Like it or not, we've got to move. If it takes vaporizing the entire mideast to keep America safe, then I say go for it. Searching back into history, I'm reminded of Rome. If somebody attacked Rome, they retaliated. They didn't just take out the attackers; they took out their wives, children, relatives, villages, and eliminated the entire culture. THAT's how to be safe. The Roman Empire survived a thousand years. They must have done something right.

Although I agree the 2500+ lives that were lost on September 11th was a tragic loss of life. Is it OK to kill 10 times that many people over a longer period? US foreign policy is responsible for the continued suffering and deaths of countless thousands of people everyday. These people won’t die in a blaze of media attention but they will die, hidden away, because their deaths don’t make it to the news headlines.
Just a thought!

People die in wars. People have always died in wars, as far as I know. We're in the middle of a war, a different kind of war. If that flag under your name signifies that you're from the UK, then you're aware of terrorism and how it works.
Personally, if it comes to people having to die, and I suspect it will, I'd much rather it be them than us.

Hey! Who said this is a war? I don't recall any official decleration of war? As long as the US can keep on quietly killing without headlines, and I don't just mean Iraqi's, it must be OK! As long as it's not you of course!!
I am from the UK and I know we have our own problems with terrorism with the IRA. By the way, most of that is funded by your very own NYC St Patricks Day fund raising!
Makes you think doesn't it? Hmm.

Declared or otherwise, war is war. The Korean War was technically a "conflict" as was Vietnam. Tell that to those who served in Korea and those of us who were in Nam. Sure seemed like a war to me. As for you're comment, 'as long as it's not you,' well, I did my time back in the late '60's and paid a helluva price for it.
As our papers and TV say, it's the War on Terrorism. Congress calls it a war, too. If they can do it, I can do it.
Concerning the IRA, touche'. Point in your favor. It's true, as I understand. I don't like it and don't think it should be allowed, but it won't stop because others are being supported by large private donations and certain folks in Washington don't want to upset the applecart, or more likely affect their political donations.

welcome to the party!
London (CNSNews.com) - Attendees at a radical Islamic conference held one year after the Sept. 11 attacks hailed terrorist leader Osama bin Laden as a "hero" and warned of possible suicide bombings in the United States and Britain.
The conference at the Finsbury Park mosque in north London was organized by al-Muhajiroun, a radical group that advocates the worldwide imposition of strict Islamic law.
Bukhari:V3B48N826 “The Prophet said, ‘Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind.’”
