Mandrake has a good course that covers linux (not just linux-mandrake) basics. The user manual which is also up at their website is excellent source of information too.

Many thanks for the ideas, input and opinions. Souleman, your examples were definitely worth my time, so i do appreciate you taking your time to give them thanks x a x, for the 'ease' comparison Mandrake and RedHat, i need 'easy'. thanks cross for the get-going tut site. thanks detox for the info on the general manual, i have three big ones, each with disks that are probably totally out of date.
