Guys, this is why its so important to vote. I find the politicians of today are ambicious about furthering their careers and not doing their job. They make decisions based on their financial standings and those of their sponsors, not a large% of the people they represent. We can blame no one but ourselves for the terrible state of our government. No offense but I find the president a puppet. What persons are pulling the strings? I'm not entirely sure.<cough> George Bush Sr., Republican Sponsors<cough>
I would support the draft if there were valid reasons for doing so. The FBI HAS NOT made a solid link from Al Queda to Iraq. So why are we going to war with Iraq. I beleive Iraq is up to something however, but frequent, THOROUGH inspections should be made.
And the "I dont care because I cant be drafted" crap attitude is what got us here. Its neglegence people!! Wake up!!! Do your civic duty.
    sorry

    Ebo,
I disagree with your statement that our Economy is not fit for it. Deficit spending can be good for the economy becuase its a way to increase current expenditures without raising taxes. Hence, it increases the aggregate expenditure which increases aggregate demand. -- in other words - war can be good (for the economy, that is).

I'm in the same boat as magnoon. I grew up with the draft hanging over my head and enlisted in 1965 just ahead of the draft board. Now I have a son who, if there were a war and a draft, would be called. It's a tough one.

When I was growing up, the draft was there and I never thought about it. It did hurt some guys when looking for a job. Nobody wanted to hire you and then lose you for two years. That's another downside to it.

I don't think the war with Iraq, if it comes, will necessitate a draft. But, if the politicians can convince me that there is a valid need for another draft, I'd probably support it. They'd have to do some serious convincing though. I see nothing on the horizon short of war with China to make one necessary.

So, yes I'd support it but only if it's absolutely necessary. Right now, I don't think it is.

    War in Iraq!??
What the link with september 11th? There is no known evidence of Al Qaida & Iraq links!!!
But between Saoudian & Ben Laden: yes!

To be clear: War in Iraq is only political (petrolical).
I am far more afraid of north Corea known nuclear weapons.
