What's a red disk?

Has anybody heard the term "red disk"? If so do you know what it means? I'm guessing it has something to do with hacking a Windows box if you have physical access but I really don't know if thats right.

It might have something to do with the japanese flag . .

But then again, I might as well be wrong..

This is just a guess, but could it be some kind of utility disk for working on computers. The reason I say this is because I had a teacher who carried around a black disk with some kind of decal on it that meant danger, because he kept a live boot-sector virus on it for wiping out computers once we were done installing stuff on them, so the next class couldnt use our work. I would be more wary of inserting a bright red disk than a plain old black disk, but then at the same time I have a rainobow collection of floppies sitting around in my lab.

I have heard it in reference to red hat but vaguely remember another connotation somewhere-I did a couple of searches and came up empty(except for redhat)

Ye... you can buy bunch of them from office depot they comes in all kind of colors. And I guess they have nothing to do with hacking what so ever.

In doing a search on google this seems to be a "Hollywood" reference to a cracking disk. A number of game crackers call their disks "red disks" and the term is used in a few on-line sci-fi, computer related fiction stories. I even found reference to a red disk used to spoof windows into thinking you had a licensed copy but the information was in a discussion board and was not substantiated.
